Assalamualaikum and hello everyone. Welcome back to my blog where I post about my practicum journey. I hope that my readers are all in a healthy condition throughout the week and the coming weeks. Before I share my experiences in week 9 at SK Serdang, I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know about what's currently happening to our brothers and sisters in Palestine. They are being attacked by the Zionists with unreasonable excuses. Civilians are killed everywhere from children to women without mercy. Let's all pray for them, May Allah ease everything for our brothers and sisters in Palestine.
It's been 9 weeks at SK Serdang, filled with various experiences. A lot of things I learned regarding classroom teaching, classroom management, and events from all the supportive teachers. I also learned a lot from my students, without them I wouldn't be able to know which areas I need to improve on. So, this week was half-filled with events such as showing solidarity for Palestine and a farewell ceremony for a few teachers. Without further ado, let's go deep into what happened in my ninth week at SK Serdang.
Monday (30/10/2023)
On Monday, there was an assembly held at the assembly ground. The head teacher on duty for the previous week gave a report about the students' discipline. She mentioned about plastic not being thrown into the rubbish bin after eating during recess and a few other things that are similar to the last few weeks' report. After that, there were awards given to classes that scored high for cheerfulness in terms of cleanliness, decorations, and creativity. The assembly continued with a speech given by GPK KOKO and ended with a short advice and strict reminder by the disciplinary teacher.
With the assembly concluded, I went straight to the teacher's room and prepared myself for class at 9.10 a.m. I completed my daily lesson plan and researched the topic that I will be teaching my students. The topic was about food, specifically the taste of food. I prepared some pictures for the students to describe and guess with a worksheet for them to do. At 9.10 a.m. I went to 4 Kenanga to teach and the lesson proceeded without much challenges. However, there were a few things that I needed to improve on such as classroom management skills and voice projection because some students are not paying attention to me when I teach at the front.

The next day, there was an event held which was 'Duta Sahsiah' and 'Solidarity with Palestine' at the assembly ground. Everyone was wearing a 'mafla' scarf around their neck and holding flags of Palestine to show solidarity. There was a speech given by a police officer about discipline which everyone listened attentively to. After the event concluded, the students went back to their classroom to continue with PDPC. I taught 4 Kenanga at 10.30 a.m. for about 30 minutes because at 11 a.m. all level 2 students must do an activity which is creating a speech card for Palestine. Later that day, I helped some teachers with decorating the stage for the farewell ceremony on Wednesday. It was very hot and we completed the decoration around 3 p.m.

Wednesday (01/11/2023)
On Wednesday, the farewell ceremony for En. Halim was held at the assembly ground. Fortunately, the weather was very nice and windy throughout the event. I came to school early around 6.50 a.m. to help move things from Surau to the stage. After that, I had breakfast with other teachers at the canteen and it was delicious. The event started at 9 a.m. with the arrival of VIPs marching to the stage followed by the teachers at the back. During the event, there were speeches given by representatives of students, teachers, administrators, and from En. Halim himself. There was a performance done by the students and it was very charming and spectacular. They sang and acted on the stage. The event ended at 11.30 a.m. after the picture and gift sessions with En. Halim.
The co-curriculum was conducted in students' respective classes at 12.30 p.m. and my class with 3 Dahlia was postponed to Thursday because my time with them ended at 11.30 a.m. So, I went back to the teacher's room and continued completing my daily lesson plan and journal.
Thursday (02/11/2023)
On Thursday, I had a class with 3 Dahlia at 11.30 a.m. I taught them about the means of transport. I brought a toy car to the classroom and introduced to them the names of the parts of the car. They were very excited to learn about it. The lesson proceeded smoothly and I tried another strategy of controlling the classroom. It worked well but we'll see if the next class with them will work or not. Also, I had my lesson plans checked by my mentor before printing them out to submit to the office on Friday. Aside from that, nothing particular happened.
Friday (03/11/2023)
On Friday, there was a grand recitation of Surah Yaasin at the assembly ground. After that, year 4,5 and 6 students performed 'solat Dhuha' and 'solat hajat' together with some teachers. Our prayer was for the brothers and sisters in Palestine. Around 10 a.m. I went to submit my lesson plan to the office for checking and continued to complete my journal.
In conclusion, week 9 was a blast. I had a lot of new experiences and memories with teachers and students at SKS. What I learned throughout the week is communication is key. Without communication, nothing will work out and a lot of misunderstandings will occur.SWOT ANALYSIS
